Men's Shalwar Kameez Measurement Guide – You Deserve A Perfect Fit!
Men's Shalwar Kameez Measurement Guide
The first step to getting the perfect fit for your shalwar kameez is learning how to take accurate measurements. The key to a well-fitted outfit lies in the measurements you provide to your designer or tailor.
If your measurements are off, you can't expect your shalwar kameez to complement your body shape properly. That’s why we’ve created this simple, step-by-step guide to help you measure correctly.
How to Measure Men's Shalwar Kameez – Step by Step
Before you begin, make sure you have a measuring tape and a full-length mirror to help ensure accuracy. It's even better if someone can assist you!
Step 1: Measuring the Collar
Measuring the collar can seem tricky if you're not used to it, but treat it like measuring the collar of a regular button-down shirt.
Stand up straight and wrap the measuring tape around your neck just below your Adam’s apple. Make sure the tape is snug but not too tight. Where the ends of the tape meet is your collar size. If needed, adjust slightly based on your preferred fit.
Step 2: Measure the Shoulders
It’s best to have someone help you with this part. Ask them to place the measuring tape from one shoulder end to the other, across your upper back.
Keep your shoulders relaxed and upright while your arms hang naturally by your sides.
Step 3: Measure the Sleeves
Sleeve length is a personal preference—some prefer sleeves that go past the wrist, while others like them right at the wrist.
To measure, place one end of the tape at your shoulder and run it down your arm to the desired length. Keep your arm straight and relaxed.
Step 4: Measure the Chest
You can measure your chest directly or use a well-fitted kameez as a reference.
Wrap the measuring tape under your arms and across the fullest part of your chest. Keep your posture straight and the tape level.
You can measure the chest for mens shalwar kameez measurements by taking direct measurements of yourself or a kameez that fits you flawlessly. Whichever option you choose, make sure that the measuring tape covers your entire chest.
If taking the measurements yourself, wrap the tape under both armpits and then take the size. Also, do not forget to stand in a straightened posture
Step 5: Measure the Waist
Waist measurements differ for the kameez and the shalwar.
-
For the Kameez: Wrap the tape around the narrowest part of your waist, usually just above the hips. Stand naturally—don’t suck in your stomach—to get accurate results.
-
For the Shalwar: Measure around the area where you usually tie your shalwar or where the waistband typically sits. Avoid measuring over thick clothing, as it can add bulk to the measurement.
Step 6: Measure the Length
Length is the final and one of the most important measurements.
Men’s kameez lengths usually fall just below the knees. To measure, start from the top of your shoulder and run the tape down to your desired length. Ask someone to help with this step for accuracy, and make sure to stand straight with your shoulders relaxed.
